Which zipper should you choose?

There are many zipper options on the market – selecting the right one is crucial.

A good reclosure must be easy for the consumer to use and robust enough to open and close multiple times. Depending on your product fill, you might go for a standard press-to-close zipper or a more advanced hook-to-hook/rachet-style closure. For powder-filled pouches, a hook-to-hook solution is often highly beneficial.

From our experience we’ve chosen to work with a select set of zippers. Beyond consumer usability, the closure must also perform efficiently in production. During pouch manufacture the zipper is attached via ultrasonic crushing, and the zipper must be designed to run reliably at the right material and temperature combination.

For recyclable pouch formats, the zipper must also be compatible with mono-material pouches – such as mono PE or mono PP laminates – to maintain circular-economy integrity.
